Hysteria's Call, Part 2

Alrighty, second instalment of "Hysteria's Call". Certainly full of underlying meanings and what not.

I'll run through the list of themes which I considered for this narrative once I'm done with the entire narrative.

This instalment starts off where the previous instalment left us. For those of you who are slightly lost "in the rain", be sure to clarify and check back to the previous part of the narrative.

In the meantime, here goes...

"

Moist carpets and frayed curtains fringed the interior of the small cafe which the man arranged for the meeting and if not for the torrential storm that was raging wildly, this cafe would be a place where people usually “watch the world go by”.

Even the waiters and cafe staff seem affected by the continuous outburst of the storm as they scurried around quickly, darting from table to table, serving the seemingly large number of customers, some of whom had no choice but to seek refuge in this “fancy establishment”.

The man didn’t seem to care about his surroundings nor the increasingly heavy downpour that was happening outside, even though he was drenched up to his kneels and his hair slightly displaced.

He was ushered by his regular waiter to his usual seat, into the room that was usually reserved for high profiled guests and diners; they had it well prepared. And as soon as the man sat down, no more than 3 waiters gilded into the room and awaited his barking orders.

Of course, he was a regular at this fancy cafe, but being the high profiled personnel he is in society and some say even in the world, he would expect no less than the treatment he was getting.

“...and our chef’s special for today is the...”

God damn it, where the hell is she, he glanced nervously at the door, as if expecting someone to suddenly open and join him in the midst of his wait.

“...would you like to have some caviar to accompany you wait you wait, sir?”

With a simple gesture and a flick of the wrist, everyone left the room, except of course, the man. That was all he had to do for some quiet time alone and some even say that he can make high ranking directors crawl on all fours with a snap of the fingers; rumours which are of course, largely denied by the man himself.

Certainly, this was not ordinary appointment as the man pushed back his cuffs to reveal an exquisite time piece, which ranged in the hundred thousand region of value, neatly rested upon his right wrist.

However, no time piece no matter how exquisite would make its owner happy so as long as it showed the actual time and served its function; people tend to be deceptive and selective of their perceptions.

And certainly, the man is of no exception and he hated the fact that she was already running late.

Yes, the man has heard of the presence and has come to the knowledge of the signs, but as with the majority of the masses, tend to classify the matter as “superstition” and more often, blather-talk.

But what he doesn’t know that these so called, signs, exist in many forms and are very much part of reality, just unnoticed.

And since he had some spare time while waiting at hand, he decided to review his day’s activities; a common practice for him personally since he was young which developed into a habit over time.

The day started out ordinary, to the man at least:

The usual signing of papers, both for approval and decline regarding various multimillion dollar investments and the company’s strategic business movements. A particularly interesting piece of legal document about a inter-company dispute (this is something common in companies of the scale) as well as the authorization of certain funding aspects were all on the day’s “signing” agenda.

That usually took up the morning but today, not more than 3 hours elapsed and he was done with everything he had on his agenda for signings. Taking a walk in the morning might not seem to be an ideal thing to do, especially if you’re still at work, but that was exactly what he did.

Not a stone’s throw away was the state park and that was where he spent the rest of the morning, strolling down the pebbled pavements by the magnificently built lake which glittered in the morning sunlight, like pearls floating on its surface; it was a perfect morning.

Phone calls were common for the man, 24/7 but this morning saw an all time record high; from his doctor calling up for a check up he’d missed the other day to his caretaker back home calling to report that there was something urgent to attend to at home and that he required to be home immediately.

The cell phone served as a source of words for this little book called the organizer as schedule after schedule was noted down. But the man was especially cautious today and cancelled all other appointments, including a meeting with his main financial supporters (something anyone should NEVER do) just to make way for the appointment he had now.

Someone up there must be really emotional today, he thought to himself as he sat in the fancy cafe, recollecting his thoughts for the past couple of hours of the day.

Shortly after lunch that day, looming grim clouds gathered and collided in a massive display of lightning as well as an audio burst of thunder. Rain soon followed as nature demonstrated its powers, the same rain that was still relentlessly beating at the cafe’s windows as the man came back once more.

But at this point of time, the man started to feel touchy and as the rhythmic patter of raindrops collided against the glass panes, so did his mind as it started racing wildly.

He could feel the back of his neck starting to sweat and his fingertips drain of blood.

This isn’t right, he conformed in his mind as questions started to race through what was once the cold and aloof stronghold of the man.

She should have been here by now; what if she stood me up; where in the world is she; how is she getting here in the first place; is she driving here; what if she was stranded in the flood down south; why isn’t she here; what if...

A dead silence engulfed the atmosphere for a moment and even the rain seem to stop.

The door to the room creaked to life and gave the man a good hard jolt back into reality.

"

Hope you guys dug the first instalment as well as part 2. The final instalment will be coming up shortly so stay tuned (or check back, whichever) for various updates and articles soon to be posted.

Your valued feedback and comments about the various themes included in the story as well as the plot development is largely encouraged. Just drop me a comment as you see the need to.

Till then.

Hysteria's Call, Part 1

Alright, time for a little update.

Been pretty active these past couple of days largely due to the abundance of outdoor activity both for social purposes as well as personal lifestyle issues.

I'm in the midst of preparing for an upcoming article installment, thus have been doing the required amount of research these past couple of days as well. And don't mind the post's title; you'll be able to see the significance later on in this post.

Active and tiring as the days may be, it serves as an ideal reprieve from the late night projects and various tasks that would normally occupy the average media student. As I've mentioned, learning takes a different form once the holidays start.

Today has been especially hectic due to certain reasons not at my liberty to disclose. This period has also granted me to think about certain taxing issues that I'm sure everyone has in their mind, at some point of their lives.

I've also been looking around for various Universities and post-tertiary education sources. I guess that's what they call planning for the future, which is really, ideal and gives one a clear steer for their respective path in life.

I hold my considerations private to me but naturally, am free from advice from you, my readers. So if you guys have recommendations and better still, if you're in a certain university and would like to share the learning environment there, I'm eager to listen.

I seek further education (after my polytechnic studies in Media Studies and Management) in disciplines such as Media, Psychology, Mass Comm and various Legal aspects, just to name afew. So yea, just looking around for ideas and what not.

Of course, alot of hardwork will have to be invested and put in, in order for admissions to the best universities in the world. So lets all strive for the best and achieve what we seek to in our lives.

Moving on.

More particularly, moving back to the relation of this post and its title which relates greatly to the following narrative which I creatively thought about and through during my free time, just to occupy my mind.

As with my usual narratives, there are hidden meanings and interesting aspects to consider, so I hope you guys will enjoy and have a little food for thought.

So yea, here goes...

"

The man fancied a quick glance at his watch before he exited the building.

Outside, people in black raincoats and umbrellas were doing what they can to stay out and keep themselves as dry as possible, for that all important business meeting, or that exclusive date with a particular gorgeous chick.

Yes, this was the business district of in country and arguably the business capital of the world in itself. This is where high profiled personnel come in and out daily, to keep the economy going as well as to serve the nation; economics and finance was of utmost important.

The man was of no exception. He had nothing to gain in small business ventures but all to lose in big financial advancements and acquisitions of other companies. In essence, he held a high position in both his social ladder as well as his occupation.

He was labeled as the "cold-blooded" stereotype who often axed incapable or under par employees. He would walk into a hall full of the highest ranking officials and deliver a business proposal, messed up the first few lines, but still get the deal done; he was that highly valued.

However, as the rain poured and hammered its relentless fists upon the glass tinted windows of the building, to be precise the company's global headquarters, the man felt a cringe, as if the janitor suddenly decided to turn the radiator off.

Yes, it was time.

And for the first time in a long time, the man felt a very humanly fear creeping up upon him as he stood motionless in the hurried lobby.

Lets just get this over and done with, irritated at even his own cowardice, the man shook what fear was left within his hallowed mind and emptied it before making his move.

After paying the doorman a hefty tip, as with his usual routine, he stepped out of the building.

A sheet of grey enveloped his vision as he struggled for composure. The storm with getting really bad and the people who were out in the open were sparse, if not scattered, in the violent bedlam.

A pity, the man thought to himself as he hailed a nearby cab and signalled for it to drive.

"Going out in this violent storm, sir?" The cab smelled of dried leaves but the man had other things on his mind. Far more taxing issues.

"I hear that the south pier's flooded from all this rain and people are trapped. Communications have been cut off and people are stranded. I sure hope my wife brought her cellphone with her, been trying for ages to call her."

The man kept really quiet, clearly not interested in what the cab driver has to say, and not paying any attention to the conversation at hand as he fiddled with his coat and adjusted his cuffs, waiting in anticipation.

Around the sharp turn and the cab slowed to a halt as its engine fizzled to a dead silence.

Blast it, the man thought to himself and automatically dug up a 50 dollar note and literally threw it at the cabby before he could offer a remedy to the situation.

"Sir, wait! Remember the si..."

The man rallied his umbrella and walked in the direction of the cafe where he was supposed to have his appointment, cursing under his breath as the rain grew heavier, pounding upon his umbrella.

A beacon of light pieced the grim composure of the rainy surrounding as the man crossed another avenue two streets away.

He was there, and grateful to have even made it in this rain.

Now, she'd bloody be coming, he thought as he made his way across the street, the rain so heavy, masking any trace of his presence.

"

Okay, thats all for this first installment. I'm thinking of a 3 part series but yea, there is plenty to digest in this segment of the entire story so yea, hope you guys will have something to think about after reading this short part of the narrative.

Looking forward to comments and be sure to check back for article, updates and the continuation to this short narrative.

Cya'll later.

Marketing Life.

Since the crack of dawn, mankind has been pondering over the age old question; the definition of life.

I'm sure that most of you who read my previous entries, updates and articles, have noticed the avid and continual search for this definition.

Everyone has his or her own individualistic view and insight to what life holds and means, which is consequential in itself for that's how it should work out. Simply put, there is no fixed definition for life and what it holds in itself.

The past couple of days were hugely rejuvenating in itself, as it served as an awesome period away from work and a breath of fresh air. No doubt school work has wonders of its own, but it is good to learn outside the typical boundaries of logic and concepts.

And more particularly the discipline of existence and the work of creation.

No doubt I'm looking quite forward to the holidays, largely due to the fact that it'll serve as a good time to restructure (slightly) and strengthen certain aspects of my well being, as well as to further better myself in other aspects.

It will also be a good chance to spend a little time with ourselves and obviously, friends and family. Social interaction is absolutely vital for us, human beings, and I guess that's why government bodies and the world's society accept the fact and existence of holidays and breaks.

Not more than 2 hours ago, I was at the waterfront, by the bay side. Evidently soaking up in the festive mood (of which up till now, I have no answer for the reason of celebration) which included a somewhat impressive display of fireworks, a couple of awesome live performances and large numbers of people massing around for various social interactive purposes.

Well, I'm not really a fan of huge crowds (in terms of moving, pushing and weird characters) and all but I guess a little discomfort now and then makes one stronger.

And I guess events as such serve as a great rally point for people of different orientations and demographics to come together and witness something that we as human beings appreciate visually; in this case, the beauty of the fireworks.

Yet another aspect in life, for beauty and appeal is evident in our daily lives.

And as usual, I began my usual "thought-process" in the midst of my shower awhile back, pondering about the age old question which I started this post with.

I guess this puts truth to the saying "you are what you learn", for I find similarity between life and the aspect of Marketing.

Uh huh. But before you guys (especially to my fellow Media Marketing classmates who want nothing to do with the module, EVER again) navigate away upon reading this segment of the update, hear my rational.

In marketing, we learn things like the marketing mix which are the 4 Ps, segmentation, market research and about the product, place, price and promotion. Simply put, we are taught how to work towards the Needs, Wants and Demands of the consumer.

You may say, where's the link?

Well, I find life similar to marketing, simply due to the fact that Life is full of never ending Needs, Wants and ultimately, Demands.

Literally, it does not make sense, but think of this in a metaphorical sense.

I'd like to view life as a ladder. But in contrast to the commonly known "climbing up the social ladder", my perception of "ladder" is different.

Let me rephrase my quote; I'd like to view life as a never ending ladder.

To me, to live is to improve and work towards something and achieving it. Many have the perception that achieving one's personal legend often means reaching the top of the "ladder", but I somewhat disagree.

Simply due to that fact that the configuration of life in itself makes its fluid and ever moving. And that is simply supplemented by the various needs and wants we have in our path of life, and the pursuit of our personal legend.

When a want is satisfied, another one comes in and slots right in place, and I guess that's what life is about while working towards one's personal legend.

Really interesting stuff, if I may say so. And a little food for thought for you guys, I hope.

And oh yea, I really appreciate the various responses I got for the previous post and naturally, hope to hear more from you guys.

Remember to check back for articles, updates and the lot. Currently, I'm working on a new article, related to my course of study at the moment.

So yea, look out for it and till then.

Cya'll later.

Would your Life be complete if...

Alright, time for a little update and a short insight session before returning to the monotony of factual written well... facts.

I've been rather, well, distracted of late partly due to certain emotive aspects swimming in my head and probably also due to the influx of various social issues. Blame the stress from exams or what not but yea, I guess thats the way life works out.

Interesting Stuff.

And I'm sure whats even more interesting, to the masses at least, at the moment is the Olympics and more importantly, records being broken and medals being awarded.

This is yet another turning point in the development of not only the sporting world but also civilization and society itself. It is also an awesome indication of movement and of achievement for mankind and the human mind.

There has been much talk around the town about Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt and even the attainment of medals for Team Singapore's Table Tennis Team (Female). Indeed we are stepping into a new era though oblivious to some, for there is a time of change, especially in the minds of people.

Sports isn't all about winning and this is substantiated by the fact that even participating in these games is considered an honor in itself.

Indeed. To these dedicated professionals, attaining a medal is a symbol of achievement and a symbol of completing something in their lives, which incidentally, is a very interesting detail to note.

Amidst my shower, I pondered upon this issue after watching telecast after telecast of Phelps' amazing swim, Bolt's breathtaking dash and articles of Singapore ending the 48 year medal drought.

So what is it that makes my life (so far) complete?

I drafted the following list;

- Being "one of a kind", with no one in existance exactly like me
- Being able to wake up every morning and sleep peacefully every night
- Having the spur to achieve what I was set to
- Having the ability to sense and feel for others
- Having emotions within me
- Having a place where I can go to which I can truly call my own
- Being able to be in the presence of people who appreciate life (ie. Family members, Friends)
- Being able to abide my intented day's plan
- Having total and complete control of my actions and consequences
- Being able to think critically
- Knowing how to apply appropriate emotions to certain situations
- Having the ability to judge and decide
- Having the freedom of preference
- The existance of past memories (good or bad)
- The ability to remember, record and most importantly...
- The ability to Dream

however, after coming with this list, I realised that my life wouldn't be half as decent if;

- I didn't have everything I needed to start my day
- Starbucks and Subway were never founded (the horror)
- I didn't have social skills
- I give in easily to temptation
- I don't learn from previous mistakes
- There is no one left on Earth (ie. I Am Legend)
- Everything was so clear cut and one way
- There were no goals to attain, nothing to work towards
- Life was just spending 80 or 90 (human) years on Earth

And a couple of buddies and I had a conversation over lunch about the movie "I Am Legend", bascially revolving around the fact that what if you were the last person on Earth.

The general reply I got was basically in this format:

"I'll (insert an activity that would be impossible to do normally) and die."

Well I guess I would do something along those lines as well. But then again, let us take a step back and look at the underlying meaning of this little statement; we cannot live without social interaction.

The thought of being alone on Earth is really horrible, though for the first week or maybe for the first month, it'll seem like the best time of your life, but gradually, the pleasure will rot away and in my opinion, it'll be a huge, massive torture.

This leaves thought that there is more to life that doing what you would want to achieve and dying. I guess its the little things in between that makes life complete and I guess that's why some say that "Life is a Journey".

Really interesting stuff.

So yea, I would like to gain a more in-depth feedback;

what makes your life, so far (whether you're 6, 17 or even 76) complete?

Just a little food for thought for you guys to ponder over and remember to check back for articles and updates, and I'm as always, looking forward to your comments and feedback on this issue.

Feel free to post a full length response on your blogs but be sure to link them via my comments when you're done.

The Price of Emotions; How much are you willing to give?

Price and financial stability has often been of issue during the recent decades of mankind. Probably due to the rising costs of living (as I'm sure all of us are relatively familiar with) or even due to the vast and complex advancements in the societal context.

It is assuring to find out that yes, our society is improving and moving towards the future; who knows what it'll hold for mankind. But are somethings compromised in the process of such "advancements"?

To have the society move forward is one thing while the psychological development of its citizens, is another issue altogether. An issue that is often overlooked by the sociologist of this century.

A slight irony if I may say so, but naturally, it is had to foresee the developments of the human mind, as with the study of psychology; it is a field of mysteries even more complex then logic itself.

So is the human mind evolving as a result of all this?

Certainly, for the mind is designed to evolve as that is the way of nature. It is impossible for mankind to remain stagnant in evolution as that would deem void in the order of survival.

But has this evolution deteriorated our evolution to such an extend that we are purely based off currency and finance? And that our lives are basically circled around what we call, the "Greens"?

A couple of weeks ago before I started my first lesson with my student, my employer (my student's parents, who coincidentally was my ex-table tennis coach) approached me for advice about his child's progress.

I thought to myself, hey I mean this kid's just in primary one (first grade) surely there wouldn't be a need for such intensive materials just yet?

Well I guess this is where the term people coin "parental instincts" come about and my employer appeared rather anxious about his child's academic performance (especially in the English Language).

I suggested the purchase of an English dictionary (largely due to the fact that it would not only be substantial to the child's education but also a long term investment) in response to his enquiry nevertheless as I felt that there was no significant need for "additional materials? aside from the such.

The following week, I came for my routine with the newly bought dictionary, eager to impart what I know about the uses for this "$12.79 heavy-weight" to my student, as well as his parents.

It was really interesting to me personally that my employers would so readily invest in educational gains for their child and this really set me thinking (though I've had been in similar situations in the past with my own parents sparing no expense at my education); I see it in a different viewpoint now.

This may be a natural occurrence, of parents spending and investing what they can into their child's education, but from this derives a precious lesson and leaves much room for thought.

Since our society nowadays revolves around currency and finance, I presume it must be natural that the psychological aspect of mankind overlaps with such "logical entities". But to what extent have our mental state of mind depend on such physical factors?

As seen in the example I've quoted, emotions are shown through gifts and investments. My employer cares for his child and thus entrusted me with the responsibility of purchasing the dictionary.

However, this is where the delicate cradle of balance comes into play; are we over-relying on such physical objects to articulate our emotions?

When it comes to gifts, I'm pretty sure one would often link it to the annually occurrence of one's day of birth, or even the festive event of Christmas, where people exchange presents and the such.

But are physical gifts a good indication of one's emotion to the other?

I personally feel that we live in a materialistic society in itself, where everything circles around money, thus giving existence to terms such as "money is power" or "money makes the world go round" or even "time is money".

It is quite sad that our society has turned towards such a direction where everything is so material based and our human rooted emotions get affected as a result.

I find the term "diamonds are a girl's best friend" disturbing to a certain degree (though I understand that term is a metaphoric statement, depending on the situation) especially in a relationship context. If diamonds are a girl's "best friend" then what does her partner stand for? Hopefully not her "piggy bank" I hope.

Some people of our modern dive straight into material pleasures and are enticed by them, especially the younger generation. Take a quick walk down the streets of the busiest shopping districts and I'm sure you'll see teenagers by the truckload, browsing through the various "material indulgences" up for grabs.

But is a physical gift the best form to emphasize your emotions? Must we really purchase that elusive diamond necklace or that expensive bag just to show that we care?

I surely hope not, for I feel that emotions yield no stable logic but yet, flows in the human mind as free as water. Nobody can put a price on emotions such as care, concern, sacrifice and most importantly, love.

Embrace emotions to people or vice versa, for only in its purest form, will its true meaning surface and take purpose.

However, do not misunderstand me. Like how a parent is willing to spend and invest for his child's education, spending is justified, only to a certain extend. Overdoing it however, will deem superficial and in truth, pointless.

Emotions come from your heart and soul and not from your wallet. Even if you're not able to afford a simple gift due to financial constrains, a little action is not only the best way to express but is also the most apporiate one, in my opinion.

They say that "its the thought that counts" and I for one, am in favour of that statement as to convey your emotion, it is what you think and the "thought"; the physical object being a substantive.

So as we speak, is our society plunging deeper and deeper into the depths of the cold and harsh reality that is in the figures of our bank account?

I sure hope not. From the latest fashion trends to the complex gizmos of the future, society is going further and further into development.

But let us not forget what keeps us sane, our emotions, for it is what keeps us human and intact (refer to article, "Emotions; A Flaw in the Human Design?").

No one can put a price tag on emotions and no matter how much our society moves ahead of us, let us hope that some primitive traits in the human design will remain the same for a long time to come as I do not see an alternative to our current predicament.

So the next time when you're pondering about what to get for a friend, your children, your family members or that special someone, always put in retrospect that no matter how much one spends, the thing that will be remembered isn't that unique "only one in the world" jewelry or that custom made music player that has 200GB of storage space, but the "thought" that was considered when making the decision to purchase and doing it.

To actually give thought to a particular event and to take action for it is the greatest form to demonstrate the inner emotions.

Emotions are priceless, treasure and savour them.

Random Thought, Vol. 8

Just finished class not 2 hours ago with my student; he was pretty difficult today, if I may add.

It was kinda hard getting him down to study and all but yea, who can blame the little guy? I mean holidays and all tomorrow thrown it the fact that he's just been off from school (he studies in the afternoon session), it must be hard for any individual to concentrate in such circumstances.

If not for his exams the week after this, I wouldn't have piled homework on the poor guy. Oh well.

Decided to hang around after class and here I am, at an undisclosed location, soaking up as much bandwidth as I possibly can.

Look, this happens when you do not get a stable internet connection everyday, Sheesh.

Anyway, its crowded tonight (as it always is in sacred ground). Lots of people studying and all. Interesting really.

Time for a couple of random thoughts...

1) I see my friends here studying
2) The roof is really really high
3) I want to stay here till dawn
4) I want to study
5) Its hard to teach when you're distracted
6) I don't really feel like going home
7) Microwave food sucks
8) Pineapple on the road
9) Instant noodles for supper?
10) Someone's using MSN here

Uhh, yea. Thats that I guess. Hopefully I'll be able to get some supper later on. Feeling kinda empty down there.

I best supplement my hunt for food. Remember to check back for updates and articles and yes, its been pretty packed these few days due to study constrains and commitments.

Cya'll later.

Analysis of Semester One.

I've decided to do a little recap on the semester as it draws to a close. Though it may be impossible to fully articulate my entire experience in this one post, I guess it'll be good to at least mention a few issues and assignments that I took on during the term.

So here goes...

Analysis of Semester One, Media Studies and Management

This picture you see above belongs to Creativity and Thinking skills, ICA3, where each and everyone of us in the class were expected to do up a weekly journal for a period of around 2 months and present it in a creative fashion.

Aside from that, a set of ethics were also expected in the journal itself.

I decided to fashion and design my journal into a stack of NYP (the institution where I studied at) notes. My code of ethics was designed as an "ICA brief", something which tells you what you have to do for a particular ICA and what not.

The picture above was simply hilarious to me personally. It was part of a storyboard project which I had to complete for my Scriptwriting module, ICA4.

We had to come up with an advertisement for the new FE-320 (All rights and model names belongs to Olympus Cameras) and thus had to fabricate a storyboard to fully and effectively articulate our advertisement ideas.

The two figures in the frames were supposed to be newly wedded couples, pardon my drawing abilities and craftsmenship.

Aside from these assignments, there were alot of others, including numerous (not really) formal reports and a couple of pitches here and there for certain modules.

Mock media companies were set up too, in light of various projects.

1) Frequency, a music magazine company
where a pitch and formal report had to be submitted.

2) Uptempo Recording, (Keep Up the Tempo, Record your Future.)
where a pitch and a sub formal report had to be submitted.

Both instigated and expressed my interest in the media as well as in their respective modules.

It was really a good experience into the real-life professional media circuit and I'm sure my counterparts would readily agree (remember the late nights and lack of sleep, my fellow media-practitioners-to-be?).

Though the workload was overbearing at times, it consolidated and refined our abilities to work, be it individually or as a group.

School wouldn't be termed as such without friends, and certainly, the semester saw the bond of many amongst the class.

No, I'm talking about friendships made en route during the semester.

We bonded well as a class and I'm sure everyone has at least got a taste of working with one another, be it having positive results or negative experiences.

Take these experiences in stride and learn from them, and we'll always strive for the best.

I daresay that the people I've been seeing almost daily (not counting weekends) are really awesome, period. The kind of friends that one can find in their course of life that you'll want to keep.

You guys are awesome and I'm really looking forward to the spending rest of tertiary education with all of you, MS0801.

Though we may have our tough times (ie. insane project deadlines), we've managed to pull through and survived.

MS0801, work hard and play hard! And remember, we're united as one!

-End of Analysis-

That's that, hope you guys enjoyed this little update.

Remember to check back for articles, one of which will be posted shortly.

I'm really satisfied with semester one but naturally from a personal viewpoint, strive to do better in semester two as well as the rest of my educational studies.

It is all in the mind, but controlling it is another thing altogether, something I hope to further enhance my ability to do and master.

Life gets more and more interesting so stay tuned and remember to check back.

The Rite of Life.

Okay, for a little something different this time, I will be chronicling the day's events (something which I have never really articulated on this page).

I've always stood in favour for class bonding events, such as the "soccer" session we had today; it was really awesome and I'm pretty sure most if not everyone enjoyed themselves. Its good to see you guys in sporting outfits once in awhile for a change.

We should really do this often.

Along my bus ride back from my (second) class with my tuition student, I've come to realise a couple of things that has often puzzle and befuddled me previously. This aspect of which, will be featured in my upcoming article, so turn on your feeds and check back when the post is done!

I also realised that once in awhile, its really really nice to give yourself a good treat. Reward yourself for a particular well done job or even a good deed done; so as long as it remains a privilege, not an entitlement.

Self rewards are only effective if only reserved and saved for deserving moments or milestones in one's rite of life.

And for me, it was a good foot long Parmesan, Cold Cut Trio with no chili and pickles and plenty of sweet onion sauce to top it off. Mmm...

Life is really unexpected and justifiable, and thats what makes it exciting all the more. When life comes round and punches you right smack on the face, clean up the mess, stand right up and stand tall.

And this is why I always tell people to live life to the fullest, for you'll have no idea when you'll disappear. Second chances are few; third tries are scarse. Thus, always make sure to revolve your life around purpose and values.

Having said so much, I think I'd better continue with my narrative as seen in the previous post, call it a followup if you may...

"
The man stands very still now, not knowing exactly what to do.

Thoughts and recollections of the past memories he had with the oasis suddenly exploded in his mind and this was also why the sand around him saw drops of water.

The man dropped to the ground on all fours. More drops of water appeared and the man was not at all surprised for the tears that welled up in his eyes flooded his soul too.

He wasn't sad.

But of those were tears of confusion and indecision. The man felt helpless and desolated.

Perhaps this is the end, he thought to himself and pounded the sand with his fist, letting out a cry of agony in doing so, not being able to mask it anymore.

Was this the end for the man? Has the oasis and the desert given up on him?

Dusk soon settled around the man, who lay broken both mentally and physically, in a pathetic heap on the massive sand dune in which the man climbed the earlier day.

The desert was no place to be at night and the man knows that, having survived being in the desert for what seemed like years to him now. He soon regained his composure and got to this feet.

As he rose, the man saw and took note of the massive sand dune he scaled that very afternoon; that massive sand dune which he stood on and broke down on.

The person I am now wasn't the one who scaled this sand dune, he reflected.

It all suddenly fell into place and the truth hit him like a truck. The man knew what he had to do and as if to reaffirm this, something made him look to the sky.

He saw it and took it as a sign. Desolated and agonized emotions that took their place on his face were replaced by a firm and renergised expression.

It was at this point that he knew exactly what to do for he regained his determination.

He dusked away the remainding sand that settled upon his hair and ragged attire and began his pace. He knows this is the right way to go for the sign has convinced him and one day, maybe one day, he'll realise this reinvigorated goal of his.

The winds blew and the sands shifted, covering the footprints left behind by the man as if to guide him along his way.

Move on, they urge.

And thats exactly what the man does...

There is subjectivity in this narrative and I hope you guys will read and understand this both on a literal and metaphoric level. There is no definate answer for it leaves to your perception to decide the flow and the content of the narrative.

I would like to hear about your reactions from you guys, my readers, on the narrative and the whole concept of it.

A little food for thought again then. Remember to check back for updates and articles.

Till then.

Cya'll later.

Random Thought, Vol. 7

Alright, time for a quick update.

Been spending the weekends on movies mainly (but from an undisclosed source) and its been somewhat interesting and fruitful.

And that's probably the reason why I haven't been blogging for the past couple of days.

From the highly humorous, like "Borat" and "Good Luck Chuck", to the action packed "Jumper", each and every single piece of production yields a substantial amount of educational value from within (which I'll be touching on in my upcoming article).

Life has been really hectic recently, but its slowing down for abit as the semester draws to a close.

While others take time off to replenish lost hours of sleep, or even catch up with their friends, I'd prefer to do the the unorthodox of pondering about certain topics and aspects of life.

I did an analysis of my current lifestyle and my current environment just to keep myself in check.

I then reflected on my current mindset and train of thought. Indeed, I have not been feeling too well, emotionally these pass few weeks (mainly due to the workload, changes in lifestyle and certain aspects) but I've dealt with them reasonably week in a sense; I'm still standing tall.

I feel that fighting for what one desires in life is absolutely necessary as things will not drop from the sky just like that, thus I cultivate my drive for achieving greater things.

Its interesting what a certain event or watching a certain show, or experiencing a certain change, can do to both you and the mind.

I would like to share a short narrative with you, my reader, so here goes.

"The man tilted his face towards the wind and sighed. It has been 3 months since he last saw the oasis. He wasn't intent on leaving the oasis but he knew that the time has come for him to leave as he recalled that day.

The winds blew at his back and the sun blazed at his back, as if urging the poor man off and away from the oasis.

I'll come back soon, he whispered to himself as he heed the signs and walked off into the harsh winds of the desert.

Day and night he wondered around the desert and although he wants to leave the desert for good, he always fostered this desire and motivation to find the oasis once again.

Call it a addiction but in the man's mind, one thing repeated again and again; you'll again stumble upon the oasis one day, keep moving.

Indeed the oasis has left an impact on the man, a deep one at that, for the man lost all hope and dream of leaving the desert alive but replaced that, reaching the oasis stands rooted in his mind.

The source and his feeling tells him to search for the oasis, and in doing so, he will remain stuck in the desert as he chooses not to leave but to search for the oasis.

But should he leave? Afterall, the oasis has given him life and hope when he was in the middle of his darkest, most desperate moments as well as console him.

And if not for that moment of spur and release I would still be in the oasis now, he thought to himself quietly, with a distinct hint of regret in his mind.

The man slowed his steps, unsure of his move while his mind deliberates. He feels every grain of sand around him and the wind picking up again and on the horizon, the sun slowly creeps, hinting that sunset looms near.

He stops and slows his steps. With the sun against his eye, he knows that he's facing the direction to the oasis.

Darkness and danger crept around him, urging his natural instinct towards the oasis, but then again, his environment should not dictate his actions, should it?

The man stands there, alone, in the desert with the heat fast draining away. He must make a decision; to continue venturing or to return to the oasis. He knows that he might not even find the oasis, but his heart yearns for it nevertheless.

The man stands very still now, not knowing exactly what to do..."

Hmm... Indeed, the man, the oasis and the desert forms a big chain, but with reference to the narrative, what should the man do?

In a metaphorical sense, all of us will be, at some point in our lives, the man lost in the desert and we will meet an oasis.

Some food for thought then. And as usual, I would love to hear from you guys, my readers.

Now time for a couple of random thoughts

1) It is windy
2) My hair is gone
3) Playing soccer in the rain, not very smart
3) I might have to sleep early tonight
4) There's work to be done (sparsely)
5) I need food
6) The term's drawing to an end
7) Best to get started on (insert)
8) My fan isn't even on, nor is my air conditioning unit
9) I'm looking forward to my lesson on Wednesday
10) My musical senses are calling out to me

That's that, now its time for work. Be sure to check back for articles and relevant updates.
